We were skeptical that having an IATA number would make a difference but it truly has. As an example, we had a meeting the first week of December and received our commission 2 weeks later....we could not believe it. In looking at our payment records, our commissions are being paid on a much more timely basis. And the nice thing is that the IATA number is good for all the hotels....not just Marriott. It is well worth the fee and the "pain" of filling out the forms.

I am not concerned about Marriott limiting our commission or dropping the commission percentage. Approximately 35% of all Marriott business comes from third parties.

Marriott is trying very hard to find ways to take care of their intermediary partners.....bringing the IATA number into play will help expedite commissions because it is a "normal" business process within the hotel industry. The accounting clerk knows what an IATA number is and they are instructed to pay IATA numbers as quickly as possible. This is true for all hotels.

Good luck!

The number on the website for the Marriott hotline is not correct. It is ReMax. You should look into that

Why would an Independent Planner want to get an IATAN number if they have absolutely nothing to do with travel? Marriott has Marriott Rewards numbers that they invented...why not use those numbers. Why not train their accounting departments to work more efficiently instead of making Independent Planners do their jobs for them?
